Last of the Caponord

After valiant efforts to sell the spare parts that were accumulated over many years, four boxes of treasures are leaving tomorrow for AF1 in Texas!

BMW gets new suspension!

After years of living with the “not very good” OEM rear shock and spring setup, Stu ordered a new set from Wilbers.   Given the value of the bike, it was a crazy expense but this bike has turned into our daily ride, so best we get it set up well.

Update:  installation complete and last photo posted below!

End of an Era, Thurs, 5/21, 10 pm

Since 2003, this magnificent bike has been our main long distance bike, over hill and dale, through rain, wind and many mechanical adventures.   We picked it up with 650 miles on it, and ended with 86,024.   Today it moved on to its new owner.   (We still have boxes and boxes of spare parts waiting for their new owners in our dining room😎).

Happy trails and many thanks to our Aprilia Caponord.

It lives

The bike starts and runs really well.  So the 15 day project is over and the BMW sounds great.  It is still on the lift but has a license plate and is ready to take a spin tomorrow!

Dec 4th...tank is on and hooked up

Big day here, last bit of bike going back together.   The tank is polished, attached and fuel petcocks installed.

I

And the seat is reinstalled.

Saturday-front end done and more

By the end of yesterday, the front end was completely done, brakes done and tire on.  Saturday saw an adjustment to one of the brake calipers so the disk brake pucks closed properly.   Then the saddlebags were cleaned up and installed!   Of course the attaching locks hadn’t been opened/closed in years so that took a bit of lubricant and finesse.   All is well now.
